Day 16 Sunday, March 17th: Travel Day -> Vancouver

We both are awake around 06:30 and we had the alarm set for 07:00. Checking the weight on each bag. Lana heads to Rewe grocery store in the airport for some last minute German food we can bring home. Our Lufthansa flight is scheduled to depart at 10:00 so we aim to be checking our bags by 08:00. Plus, Lana has to take her suitcase to de-tax for her refunds.

Hmmm, I couldn't resist purchasing two Riesling at a duty free store as they are from one of our favourite Rheingau producers: Robert Weil. Uneventful 10 hour flight and we arrived to a beautiful sunny clear sky day in Vancouver.

We declared our overage on our wine purchases and paid a little more than $200CDN which is probably the most we have ever paid for duty. Lana's sister Marilyn picked us up at the airport so that was much appreciated.

It is good to be back home!

Day 13 Thursday March 14th: For Whom The Bells Toll?

We set our alarm for 08:00 this morning as we are eager to be on the way driving to Gibraltar. It is sunny and warm early in the morning. We drag our three suitcases full of wine to the parking lot and tell the attendant " Alejandro's card " and he opens the gate. Our parking is free. We are using the Garmin GPS car unit and it melts down pretty early in our drive. Yikes!! Fortunately, it corrects itself eventually and we were in situations where we knew where we were going. The road is very windy with very few passing opportunities. The Spanish drivers continue to amaze me with their daring. Also, they will get right on your rear bumper despite the fact you are already closely following the cars in front. One particular goof passed me with zero distance between me and the car in front so I had to jam on the brakes and give him the horn. Day 14 Friday March 15th: That's a lot of Bull!

During the night we were accosted by a lone mosquito who loved to buzz around our ears. We had the window open yesterday afternoon so it must have decided to enter our suite and wait for nightfall. We awake a little after 08:00 to a beautiful sunny blue sky day in Cádiz. Not much noise here last night given there are no vehicles on the street below and thankfully no church bells from next door. Early on it is 12 degrees and will get to 23 degrees. Our destination of Sevilla shows a high of 26 degrees! I am wearing my shorts for certain today. Yeh! This may be my last day in shorts for a number of months. Lana has some anxiety about our car being in its street parking spot. For me 'breakfast of champions' with a surprise pastry Patis de Nata (Portugese egg tart we love and Lana bought as a surprise for us today) and a banana. Our parking is good until 10:21. Day 15 Saturday, March 16th: Deutschland!

A beautiful sunny morning in Sevilla. Our taxi pickup will be at 11:00. I update my Trip Advisor reviews so I am current. Temperature this morning is 12 degrees very early but by the time we depart it will be 18 degrees. Our Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt is scheduled to leave at 13:10 and arrive 16:10 at Terminal One. We have three very heavy suitcases and our backpacks. Lana has Air Canada super elite status so that is the only way we could consider bringing so much wine back to Vancouver. Otherwise, it would not be possible. Weather forecast for Frankfurt is a high of 12 degrees with light rain. Brrrr, it will be cold and rainy for us after this awesome warmth and sun in Andalucia. Our taxi driver from the hotel to the airport was awesome. The ride took around 20 minutes and cost 28.90 Euro. The Lufthansa lineups to check in were huge.
